Uel (Yoo-el) age 35 is a multi media artist. He started his career in the arts at the age of 18
when he joined the U.S Navy and served for four years as a photo journalist. For the last ten
years he has worked as a freelance artist in San Francisco CA.
Uel is most known for his photo series “Paintography,” a social experiment with having subjects
close there eyes as they model nude. “We are taught to be ashamed of are bodies, and to
keep them hidden and here I am telling people to get naked and close there eyes.” Uel has had
over fifty showings in the past five years, The Store Front 49 Geary, Fort Mason, City Art Gallery
and Back to the Picture to name a few locations.
Uel’s work can be found in print, web and has been published by many notable international
publications.
